Dogs are studying the faces of people as humans do

The dogs first look at the right side of the face of a person and analyzing it more than the left, just as humans do, according to an article published by the British magazine “The Scientist”.
Humans tend to look on the right half of the face of a person they see for the first time and you spend more time on the facial part.
This phenomenon occurs only when you look at human faces, this is not to look at other objects.
One hypothesis holds that the right side of the face better express the emotional state of the person, so look first.
Now a team of scientists from the University of Lincoln (England) found that domesticated dogs have also developed this behavior, possibly to capture the emotion of the human face.
The researchers, led by Guo Kun, studied the eye and head movements of 17 dogs to showing images of people’s faces, monkeys, dogs and inanimate objects. Dogs are studying the faces of people as humans do
The animals looked to the left, ie to the right half of the face, only when human faces were taught (this trend was further accentuated when the facial expression was angry.)
According to scientists, the dogs may have learned this behavior to interpret the emotions of the face after thousands of years of interaction with humans.
However, when the dogs were shown a mirror image, continued looking to his left, something that humans do not.
The research team explained that the canine right brain that processes information from the left visual field, is better suited to the interpretation of human emotions that the right hemisphere.
According to the expert canine Eötvös Loránd University of Budapest (Hungary) Adam Miklosi, but the discovery is interesting, is still a mystery how dogs perceive the faces of the people and no evidence that they are able to recognize emotions.
